Member since 1982 - worth it for the mag and info on the rallies and such.

Carried the Anon Book for years, was able to call locals for advice a few times, never been called myself

I have owned the R1150R and the R1150GS.

I gave the R to my son, and kept the GS.

Both are great bikes - I find the GS more comfortable. With a Parabellum and Jesse Bags, it is an awesome touring machine.

Battery woes

I gave my son a 2004 R1150R

Despite being on a charger, the battery has given up the ghost.

What are the recommendations for a replacement?

Thanks.

Stupid Question.

Why not leave the car out and garage the bike?

Re: System Cases vs. Jesse's

Well, I've decided to finally put hard bags on the R. I see that Jesse now makes them for our bikes but there isn't a very good picture on the site: http://www.jesseluggage.com/r1150.html Anyone here have Jesse's on their R care to share a pic?? Send me an email, and I will send you pix prpbmw@comc...

manual

I have a pdf of the manual..it is 17 meg, and too large to send as an email attachment.

If no-one posts an online source, I would be willing to burn a copy and mail it to you.

wiring a Garmin

I got the lead from a battery tender, and ran it to the handlebars.

Spliced another connector to the cig lighter adapter for my garmin.

Also, any 12 volt device can be used, simply by splicing the connector to the power cord.

Big Mak

I am a fan of the big Mak. I had the platen made by my cousin out of 3/8 inch aluminum and powdercoated to black. The extra weight solves the lifting issue mentioned above.

trip to the print shop

I rode my bike to drop off a small print job at a local shop.

On the way home I realized they took neither my name or phone #.

I went back 2 hours later to pick up the copies.

The receipt was made out to

"Guy in motorcycle helmet"
