Jesse's on an R1150R
I have system cases on my R1150R but really like the Jesse system. I like the rear deck as I only ride solo, but I have heard of problems with cornering clearance. Pros and cons of the switch?

I believe if you use a shorter paralever torque arm it will bring the bike up higher...or maybe that's a longer one. Can't remember. Check it out.

I have done this mod. The details are in a post around here somewhere. You can fit GS parts, but ypu have to take a systems approach to it. You can install the 20mm shorter paralever bar from the GS. You can also install the 20mm longer shock. This will raise the rear about 3-1/2" and will be perfect for the Jesse bags. There are other problems to resolve unless you want to lean the bike arainst a tree every time you get off of it...mcollect wrote:How can I raise the r to get the right clearance for Jesse's. I bet some other individual has done this successfully. Why can't I use GS rear shocks to do the raising? Maybe this is over my head but I relly want the Jesse system.
1) You will need the GS sidestand and centerstand (be sure to get the springs and spring hangers as well - they're different from the R items.
2) The GS stands will not fully retract because the footpegs are in the way. To fix this you will need the GS footpeg brackets. Don't count on using the R footpegs on the GS brackets because they are a little thick and the pivot holes are in the wrong place. Rather than buying GS pegs, I bought Fastway pegs instead.
3) Now that the pegs are in a different place the stands work well, but the shifter and brake don't work. You need the GS shift lever and both pieces of the linkage between the lever and the transmission. On the right side you need the GS brake control, the GS rear brake master cylinder and the brake hose (the R hose is just s LEEEtle short).
4) Now everything works, except it takes a gorilla to hoist the bike up on the centerstand. Since you didn't raise the front end to GS height and because the R tire is shorter than the GS tire, the front wheel clears the ground by 4" with the bike on the centerstand.
5) There is room to trim about 1" from the centerstand to make this right. More than that and the stand interferes (again) with the footpeg bracket. Taking one inch off of the stand will lower the front wheel 2" which is sufficient. Make the cuts between the feet and the crossbrace. Mark the alignment first. Cut the stand tube with a heavy tubing cutter. Cut exactly the same amount off of each leg. Make a dowel to fit inside the tube and use it to align the shortened legs as before. Spot weld the legs back together.
Congratulations. Have a beer if you have enough money left to buy one!
PM me is you want to see some before and after pictures. I'd post them but I don't want to hear again how I have ruined the lines of my motorcycle.

Criminy! I would be tempted to just buy an entire GS.beemerphile wrote:I have done this mod. The details are in a post around here somewhere.
