Used valve cover
Does anyone have a source for a used right hand valve cover for a dual spark? I slid out on some snow in the mountains and popped a hole in mine. It’s JB welded for now and holding but would like an alternative that’s a bit less than the 300 dollars BMW wants.

No high beam-fixed
Passing along some knowledge.... Tried my high beam on some mountain roads last weekend with no prevail. The switch did nothing. I swung by and picked up a new H4 bulb and still no luck. I started to look at electrical and there’s it was, I missed one factory zip tie on the left side and found it ha...

Sometimes abs pump stays on a bit too long
I have found on fairly hot days by abs pump will stay on till I push the front brake handle forward a bit. 98% of the time it's on and off perfectly. Anyone had this problem before? 2004 r1150r 42k.

Re: Valve Noise?
I agree with the resonance. My bike always sounds a bit different when it's hot and throttled up. I was once told that clicks and taps are to be expected and if the bike is broke it will let you know by a bad idle or surging. If you haven done the throttle sync and valve adjustment do, it kinda fun ...

Re: Oil Wrench/Filter
I just took my filter into autozone and found the correct size filter wrench. Only cost a few bucks and works with a 3/8 socket wrench and an extension.

Re: Handlebar Grip Rubber
I too have removed the rubber from my heated grips. I thought I had a break in the circuit so I pulled the rubber off just to find that it was a zip tie... just be light with an exacto knife, they are only attached for about .5 inch on the end. Take your time and have a sharp blade.

Re: new tires for my old bike
My PR3s have just over 24k on them. I installed at 14k and just passed 38k. I don't have any cords, but I'm going to get a new set before the spring rains hit and they will be PR4s.

Re: New to the R1150R
All i can say is that after 29k I haven't had any issues with my headlight bouncing. It might be worth taking off the bezel, I believe it was a standard phillips and make sure the retaining clip is still holding the bulb into place. Also our headlights are adjustable depending on if you have luggage...

Re: Ignition falling out
I'm not too comfortable about epoxying my ignition switch back together. What fasteners normally hold this thing together? I am almost certain this has fallen out during a ride and the bike remains operational. The only few times it has happened I didn't even know it until I turn the bike off and lo...

Ignition falling out
So this has now happened a few times, when I turn my key off the bike will react like the key is still in the on position. The first time it took me a minute to get it figured out but it appears the lower part of my ignition switch can fall out of the lock cylinder. I can put the key back into the o...

I ran mine down on the highway trying to get to the next town. It wasn't even stuttering, I just knew it was around 5 1/2 gallons. I have never ran it dry.

Re: Oil window weirdness!
might as well throw in my two cents, I agree even on long rides my oil cooler lines will momentarily close when I am on the highway and it's below freezing. But I would go as far to assume that those thermostat valves are electronic and not hardwired to the battery. Therefore if you shut down the bi...

Re: R1150R overheating!
Burnt oil will have a darkened color, much like molasses, and have an off smell. If you are running the correct amount and type of oil you shouldn't be having issues with the heat. I ride my bike in stop and go traffic here in Colorado often and have only had a few problems. I will admit if you find...

Re: wont run
I would say you have a short or break in your wiring harness to your handlebars. Only because you describe no power on your center stand and the power when she is on the side stand. The one thing that is different is the position of your handlebars. I would check under zip ties first. Try getting po...

Re: New to tubeless tires...
I haven't heard of a great plug for a bike tire but if you dismount the tire and put a patch on the inside it should be good. We used to use the patches with the plug built in. You would pull the plug through the tire from the inside out and a patch was permanently attached on the inside. They worke...

Re: Riding range
I'm really surprised to hear about the mpg swings on this bike. I don't really see a mpg drop till I drive consistently over 75mph. Even then I still average 47-48mpg. I do use 91 octane but I thought the higher elevations would hurt my economy. At least I know now I'm at the upper part of the spect...

Riding range
I know there has been a few threads on this subject before but I am wondering how far folks can go on a tank. I know there is a large difference between driving styles but mine is mostly highway driving and get around 50mpg. This evening I had to make a sprint home and before I got to the station I ...
