Sometimes abs pump stays on a bit too long

Post by milehighboater »

I have found on fairly hot days by abs pump will stay on till I push the front brake handle forward a bit. 98% of the time it's on and off perfectly. Anyone had this problem before? 2004 r1150r 42k.

check your fluid level, and flush and bleed that system with fresh fluid.. Not sure if that could be a sign something major is wrong... incorrect pressure? or just a mis adjusted brake lever?

Annual ABS service is critical. The iABS system (pump) is not very tolerant of missed services. Also very expensive to repair/replace the pump when or if it fails.

Brake system bleeding is not difficult but maybe a tad tedious. But regular service is a must. I guess I'm kinda saying ya need to do it on a really regular basis! :)

Mine was neglected for 3-4 years due to illness on my part. As a result my pump failed last summer and I ended up completely pulling the ABS system off my bike. ('04 model) New pump is $2400+, so it will dip pretty deep into your pocket if you have to replace it.
