Rear shock
'04 R1150R 17k miles. Original shock done. Everybody happy with the Hagon? Anyone had stock shock rebuilt by Moto Pro?
Re: Rear shock
Run Hagons' on my Guzzi and they work very well. Ohlins on my rockster ('04) and rebuild them about 25K. My orginal rockster shocks went about 20/25 k and were pretty good in my opinion.
If you will be a long time owner then rebuidable is a good investment.

Re: Rear shock
How do you know when your rear shock is going?
Re: Rear shock
That's like an oil thread discussion. Its sort of subjective! Many will have opinions. I am a very long time rider and am sensitive to dampening changes in the suspension.
Some can ride for many thousands of miles on stock shocks with no real problems. Others that ride quick will notice the small changes, but those changes happen very slowly and sometimes are hard to quantify. Its like looking at yourself in the mirror everyday for years and not noticing the change in how you look ha! I think tires (ware and pressure) will be just as important as dampening rates for most.
Other than damage or leaking I think the average rider will get along for a very long time without much fuss, but if you go quick or track days you will begin to notice the change in the dampening. The more you ride the more you will notice changes.
The set up (sag, height frt&rear etc.) can get involved, but that again is for someone that is riding quick or doing track time.
