Re: 2011 R1200R Classic: 2 cents after a 2-mile ride
I still think it looks like a skunk. That was exactly what SWMBO said when I showed her the pix I took today. Has anyone else mentioned that it appears that the Classic models have tube-type tires? Woops, I just went back and finished reading the thread. Old school mebbe, but that's pretty much a d...

Re: The R1200R bucks a BMW trend
Hah! I was at the shop today looking at a new OHC 12R, and was so used to seeing the "old" switchgear that I didn't realize they hadn't changed to the "new" type.

Re: Roadster bars
I have roadster bars on my rockster and have no issues with any cables and that includes heated grips. I am 6' 2'' and am happy with the ergonomics, especially less pressure on my wrists on day long rides. Thought about bar backs but decided against. Hope this helps Bubbac It does, thanks. Did you ...

Roadster bars
I've done some searching, and will do some more. Apparently a semi-common modification of the Rock is to swap to Roadster (or even GS) bars. Does the Roadster bar conversion require changing the brake and/or clutch hydraulic lines? How about the reach on any other wiring, such as to the switchgear o...

Reviving an old thread here...
Can anyone provide any further information as to the compatibility of the Sargent rider's saddle with the OE pillion? Looking at a used bike that has just the Sargent front.

Re: Autocom Installation r1200R 07
I'm talking a little out of school here, as I don't have an R12 (yet). But, my plans are to add an auxiliary fuse panel and run all electrics including a re-wire of the accessory outlet off of that, so that I don't get waylaid by CanBus foibles. Do a search for Blue Seas and you'll get some informat...

Re: Anyone install the touratech drive shaft crash bung?
Okay, I'm going to be a contrarian here, and trust me, I've got my share of cosmetic farkles on the bikes, but... As a crash bung, how is that supposed to do anything? It's inboard of the FD itself, and well inboard of the footpegs. Plus, since it's friction fit, the friction of a crash is likely to...

Re: Rescue project
That would be a hacked up Ed 80. The forks are blue and the piece around the bmw logo is black. Nice rattle can paint job on what used to be a white tank. It could be diamond in the rough, but my guess is that it is just rough. You can do much better for the $$. You know, I wondered if it was an Ed...

***Old thread alert!***
I happened to be by Performance Honda again yesterday, and the forlorn Rockster is still there. With the summer winding down, and as long as they've sat on it, an adventuresome type could probably score it for a song.

Re: Dealer overservicing bikes
I'd rather have an over-achiever dealer than an under-achiever dealer. Best bet is to ask up front what will be done and how much it's going to cost. Yeh, but I've had more than one service manager get testy with me when I asked the question: "What does the XXX service entail?" Even more ...

Re: Just spoke with Sargents Seats
Bad news guys!!! I'm buying a Corbin, ... My condolences. I'd go with a Sargent re-do...heck I'd almost ride on the frame rails before I'd buy a Corbin. Am i the only one that finds the R12R's seat comfortable??? I did 1200 miles in February on a stock seat and was surprised at how comfortable it w...

Re: Just spoke with Sargents Seats
This is OT, but I'm going to have Sargent re-foam the Corbin on my R90. That's actually the most comfortable motorcycle saddle I've ever spent time on, but it's old Corbin, meaning pre-1990.

Re: Just spoke with Sargents Seats
Is that not a Sargent in the pic? Dayum! That looks good! As far as when they'll get one out--they will. It took from 1993-4 to around 2000 to get one for the R11xxRS.

This seems like a good idea. A buddy of mine just suffered an EWS problem on an '07 K12GT. He sat the hour and a half waiting for roadside assistance to arrive...whereupon it started right up.
