Roadster bars

Post by hoonu »

I've done some searching, and will do some more. Apparently a semi-common modification of the Rock is to swap to Roadster (or even GS) bars. Does the Roadster bar conversion require changing the brake and/or clutch hydraulic lines? How about the reach on any other wiring, such as to the switchgear or heated grips? Any other tips or warnings regarding this modification would be appreciated.
Honey? How many bikes am I allowed to have?

I have roadster bars on my rockster and have no issues with any cables and that includes heated grips.
I am 6' 2'' and am happy with the ergonomics, especially less pressure on my wrists on day long rides. Thought about bar backs but decided against.
Hope this helps

It does, thanks. Did you do the conversion? I guess what I'm asking is whether you know that the cables/hoses were original and fit the roadster bars. I'm way less than 6'2", but I don't want the forward riding position. I've got the Triumph for that... 8)

BMW TAMPA DID IT FOR ME BUT TO MY UNDERSTANDING , IT WAS SIMPLY BOLT ON.....
ALL THE CABLES,,, ELECTRICAL,,, ETC ARE NOW A BIT LOOSER BUT THAT IS A GOOD THING ...NO RUBBING
WHEN I LOOK AT THE SET UP ..... ROCKSTER BARS ARE LOW AND VERY WIDE
THE ROADSTER ARE NARROW AND HIGHER, HENCE I WOULD NOT USE BAR BACKS.

My deal from the dealer included changing from the Rockster bars to the Roadster bars, as in my mid 50's the ergonomics were a little better. When I took the then new Rockster on a lengthy test ride, loved the bike, but not the bars. I am pretty sure they just swapped without changing the lines. I have been happy to this day with the Roadster bars. 8)

I'd be interested in buying a set of used rockster bars. I'd say trade, but I'm not sure I want to get rid of my roadster bars for long trips.

PM me if anyone is interested.
