Re: Gas Tank

Is this the mod you were thinking of?

http://r1150r.org/board/viewtopic.php?f ... =fuel+neck

Everytime I fill up, I spend ages trickling the last few drops into my tank - and each time I swear I'm going to do the mod. Maybe this winter I'll find the time.

The Track day Bug

Since my last ride report (http://www.r1150r.org/board/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=14927 ) I've definitely caught the Track Day bug. I've so far resisted buying a track day bike - but couldn't resist some bargain race leathers I saw recently. (£95 - and a great fit). So to give them an outing, and to fi...

I make it only $1.55 (30% of $5.17?)

Re: Pissed off about gas prices....

There's really only one reason for our high prices, (and sorry, it's not the place of origin, the navy or our refineries). It's tax. In 2007, fuel duty accounted for 70% of the price of our unleaded petrol at the pumps. I'm sure the oil companies do very nicely out of it as well, but the chancellor ...

Re: Pissed off about gas prices....

Not sure this will be any comfort, but I've just calculated what we're paying here in the UK. At roughly £0.9 per litre, (unleaded) and $1.51819 to the pound (xe.com), we're paying the equivalent of $5.17 per US gallon. And that's the cheapest it's been for ages. Is there anywhere more expensive? If...

Re: New Accessories

Hi Mike I got one of these to ease the discomfort on longer rides: http://www.sheepyhollow.com/main/frontgate/frontgate-home-contoured.htm It cost less than £30 - delivered to my door from Australia in less than 2 weeks. And it really works. I've had it for the last year, and I wouldn't go for a lon...

Unlucky to be following the lorry at exactly the wrong moment - but v lucky to survive with only minor mechnical damage. (Or skillful perhaps?) I've always been wary of lorries since following a quarry truck, which had a rock wedged between the right hand pair of rear tyres. I could see the rock goi...

Re: No Longer a Virgin - Not good for dial up.

DJ- there's nothing wrong with your eyes! Yup, those are my recently acquired Pilot Road 2s. I fitted them a couple of weeks before the big day, and scrubbed them in for about 400 miles, including the 140 mile ride to the circuit. They were great on the track, and have been great so far on the road....

Thanks all, for the kind words. Max - it may be me, but your link doesn't seem to work. I get as far as the Youtube login page but no further (it won't recognise my login) . :? Ves - I actually have a copy of Twist of The Wrist II, but completely forgot about it before I did the trackday. I will def...

No Longer a Virgin - Not good for dial up.

Well I finally did it - and I'm definitely going to do it again. Last Christmas, my wife bought me a voucher for a track-day, and after changing my mind a lot I finally chose Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire for my initiation- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadwell_Park. I booked it a few months ago, but ...

Re: MRA Vario screen on R1150R

I replaced my speedster screen with the MRA Vario about a year ago - and love it. (The only thing I like less about it is the way it looks -not exactly fugly, but no where near as nice as the speedster - IMHO. ) I regularly ride for hours on end, at speeds up to 90+ mph (private roads of course) and...

Thanks to a very generous $/£ exchange rate the annual membership for us Brits currently equates to just ten quid - equivalent to:

about 10 litres of unleaded
or
about 4-5 pints of bitter (depending on your watering hole) :D

Brilliant value - I'm in.

Not sure if you can get them in the states, but I recently bought one of these: http://www.triboseat.com/ It completely stops your pillion from sliding about. I went for a three hour ride with my "better half" on the back on Sunday evening. I normally ride solo (90% of the time), and fairly quickly, but I was surprised to find that once the bike was rolling - ie above 10 miles per hour the bike actually cornered better than one-up. :smt017 Admit...

How were the sheepskin pads?

Did they do the trick?

(Also - how do they fix to the bike?)

IF - with apologies to Rudyard Kipling

This used to be the UK's favourite poem - until I got hold of it. Apologies to Kipling fans and lady riders. IF If you can keep your grip when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on their tyres, If you can trust your cornering when others out-brake you But make allowance for these flyers,...
