Re: Fuel consumption - 100 miles to a tank!

Could be one of the primary coils (the central plug caps) have failed - they do that a lot. Disconnetc the secondary plugs and see if the bike is running on both cylinders (Put an old plug in the secodary cover and touch it to earth to protect the ECU). If its not swap over and check the fault moves...

What cleaned the oil off was the delivery solvent that the WD40 is disolved in, as that evaporates it leaves a film of WD40 behind which is a dry lubricant.

Sounds like the left timing chain rattle, there's a thread going in the rockster forum with regards to that - the essential message is don't worry it's normal.

A lot of R bits are interchangeable I think they all use the same fuel tank sender unit.

yup - running at 36/42. (I always use the tyre manufacturers pressures).
It's what makes for tyre arguments :D

The best tyre is the one that suits your riding style on the journeys you make.

I Like Conti Road Attacks  I don't. :( . I'm surprised. I find, running at Conti's reccomended pressures which are quite different to BMW handbook (36-42 as oppsed to 32-36), that the Rock feels sure footed and agile. I'm getting reasonable miles too just changed the rear at 7K the fronts stil...

As far as I know UK spec don't have the unit.

I would like to know so I can try remapping, it is good if you get surging and can improve performance/economy.

I don't like secret bits of my bike that BMW thinks I shouldn't know.

Thanks Mixr :)

Thanks for all the comments. I think I'll fit it and give it a try. My thoughts are similar to Rice's that the gas flow should be a lot faster and leave the case behind - time will tell.

Hirsty if you have a photo easily available a quick look at the fitting would be nice Ta.

Remus & Panniers

I've just taken posession of a new Remus Y pipe and Can.

On trying to make sense of the German instructions, I think it says that I now need some end thingy and a heatshield when I use the panniers

Any comments?
