Fitting New Spark Plugs

Not fitted new plugs to R1150R yet. New NGKs in the post.
Hope there is no bother getting the old ones out as they are possibly the originals at 5 YO.
What is the tightening procedure?
On my old K75 advice was finger tight then 1/2 turn, or something like that.
Will put a dab of copper grease on threads as well.

Just swapped mine no probs. They were a bit tight but fine once loosened. I give 'em finger tight and about half a turn ish to compress the washer so I'd say you're spot on. If I could make my torque wrench fit the plug spanner I'd do them up to spec at 20Nm but it won't so I guess it!

Finger tight then a quarter turn(ish) with the spanner is about right.

Any more and you can risk stripping the threads.

Same again. I will soon see if the tightening advice was correct.
A must though is to thoroughly clean around the plugs before attempting to remove them. A lot of grit was lurking in there and I used a bottle brush plus plenty of engine cleaner.

Oh - also - I slather the coil-caps with silicon grease - it seems to help prevent them corroding and failing. (makes them a little easier to remove too)

I don't think they're really built to withstand the moisture they get exposed to.

Came out easily but plugs and washers were a bit rusty. Cleaned up heads carefully before putting the new NGK plugs in. Noticed the paint was flaking from the cam chain housings so a quick scrape and some Hammerite smooth silver has sorted that pro tem. New paper air cleaner went in OK after I carefully lined the lugs up.
