Have the same type & color! San Diego, California here (84-F here today). What kind of tires (tyres?) are on your R? And, where's the giraffe?

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!
Glad I've found a home for my bike's stories
As I am female I don't have any technical knowledge to share here but hopefully I can learn from you! (My bike just keeps on going.....
)
I'm adding this link from our last trip (4 days) which we did over New Year into Lesotho.

The tyres are Metzeler Mez4's. I haven't got a pic of my bike with a giraffe! I will add this to my list of things to do

Hulloooooooooo from South Africa, just got a black 2004 1150r last week, slightly better than my KLR650.
The older I get, the better I was!

Welcome Blondi!
Beautiful photos you have posted. I checked out the link. I spent a month in Sudan about two years ago on a project and I am amazed at the contrast in your part of the continent and where I was.
I have an '03 r (silver) and have had it for just over 4 yrs now. Great bike and love it more each day. One of these days I hope to have the chance to work in Africa again but sadly probably won't be in the beautiful part that you live in.
