Bolt fell out

Post by AmostThere »

I may be the only one who didn't know but I guess I should have used threadlocker on the bolts which attach the SW-Motech brackets together. One out of the four was completely gone, fell out on the road somewhere. The others were all quite loose. On my bike they hold the topbox. I really don't want to think about the topbox flying off at freeway speed and destroying itself as well as the contents (DSLR, laptop, etc.) let alone causing some sort of injury to another motorist. I used Loctite blue, which is removeable, to prevent this from happening again.

Glad you caught this before it went from "issue" to "problem"!

Also emphasizes the importance of the pre-ride walk-around and safety inspection... something I should do more myself, come to think of it....

Good roads,

Or, lockwashers... or the "Nylock" nuts (uses nut and bolt?).

If you had only had a Harley Sportster - previously. You would know that XL means (Xtra Lock-Tite).
