Enduring my meandering on selling the R

Post by motorradguy »

Folks, you may have noticed that I've been looking to sell my R1200R over on Buy/Sell board for a while and even put her up for adoption on Eb-y  But many of you have PM'd me as to why I was selling and it made me come to this conclusion. The R is the best all around bike I've owned. Whilest I enjoy riding my Ducati and the Duc has been lonely, why can't I own two bikes? So one sits for a while, while the other enjoys some pavement time...

So, I'm no longer selling the R (for today at least  ) and look forward to continued postings on this great forum =D>

So Don, sorry. The seat is staying with me and it IS REALLY COMFORTABLE
Ahh the bikes I've ridden. So many bikes, so little time!

Nothing wrong with that. Keep it on a battery tender, and when the mood suits..... :smt035

At least bring it over sometime so I can sit it and see how the seat works...

Good move on keeping it.

Never ask permission, ask forgiveness. If you ask permission you get a ROS (raft'o'sh!t) going in and a ROS going out. Asking forgiveness reduces that to a single ROS.. and sometimes, just sometimes, they just say "OK.. whatever.." (SWMBO did on the Roadster when I pointed out the last bike I'd bought new was 33 years before, and I'd be 98 for my next one at that rate.. Plus she wanted a new living room  )

I'm a hopeless addict.. I have eight.. in a 1-car garage. When I want to check the tire pressure on a bike I'm about to ride, I have to take three outside first.

But I love riding, I don't play golf, and I don't fish.. so I'm not looking for a cure...

People ask me, "Dan, why do you have four motorcycles?" I answer, "because that's all I have room for".

I have a Duc that I bought to keep the R12R company and it's working out famously.I pick and choose depending on the mood and the purpose of the ride and it's keeping things fresh.

Having the Duc has shown me that if I could only have one bike that the R12R is the perfect choice.Every time I get back on it it confirms that I love this bike and that it's the perfect all arounder!

I have found that if I have more than one bike I end up riding and taking care of the one I like best and neglecting the other one. I end up feeling so bad about neglecting the 2nd one that I sell it. Only room in my heart for one.

I have the same tendency. I used to think it was the one closest to the door that always got out.. but it wasn't.. it's the one newest to me that makes it out the door. I had "THE K75S" - a farkleistic overkill http://www.eilenberger.net/K75S/K75S.html - that I lavished endless hours and countless dollars on with the intent of keeping it forever.. but when I got the R1150RS (which it ended up I didn't actually LIKE) - the K75S sat gathering dust in the garage. I decided it had to go to someone who would use it. A good friend owns it now, and he's even more anal than I am about keeping a clean bike, so it's in good hands. He loves all the farkles I added and really hasn't changed a thing on it.

Go figure - I'm fickle.. the new babe gets the hugs I guess..

You're supposed to wash and polish a motorcycle more than once a year? :-k
