I am not sure if my dealer offered it as I forgot to ask but I have seen it on a few other dealer's sites. With NYC potholes and non spoked wheels I am thinking it might be a good idea but interested to hear anyone's experience or opinions. Do you have to purchase this from the dealer or can it be purchased separately? A google search only found dealers that offer it when I tried.
Thanks!
Anyone have wheel insurance?

My bike is comprehensively insured and this covers damage to wheels as well - is this not the case in the US
. A friend who has a GS buckled both his spoked wheels - insurance paid out and he put alittle more in and got the mag wheels for the GS
R50/R69S/R50S/R65LS/XT660R-2007 R1200R- Now 2009 R1200GS - 69 YEARS YOUNG STILL GOING STRONG
I think most insurance coveres that under the comprehensive part of the policy.Phillo wrote:My bike is comprehensively insured and this covers damage to wheels as well - is this not the case in the US.
Ouch! He killed a set of spoke wheels and went to the cast wheels? The spoke wheels are stronger, hence the reason they're on the GS.Phillo wrote:A friend who has a GS buckled both his spoked wheels - insurance paid out and he put alittle more in and got the mag wheels for the GS

yeah in order to make my insurance as cheap as possible with living in New York City ( plus I have one moving violation recently..emm...maybe two) I chose $1,000 deductible on my comprehensive insurance so while I am fully insured the first grand is on me. I can take a $1k hit if the bike is totaled or stolen (Heaven forbid both!) but even today while riding in Manhattan I just missed a pothole that I swear was at least two feet deep..so that's why I am thinking the wheel insurance might be good.
