Re: How about one of these for a sharp, less expensive muffler
To be honest, based on those photos I find that Supertrapp to be less than attractive. Looks like something you'd find on a generator or tractor. I picked up an exhaust tip in stainless at a local autoparts shop in the correct diameter for $10. Just remove the original muffler, the exhaust noise is ...

Not bad looking, but I guess I'd have to revert back to my childhood and make vroom vroom noises myself, or stick a baseball card in the spokes.

Re: Bought my Boxer a sister!
Had the same bike in '84, same color etc. Zero maintenance bike, i.e., hydraulic clutch, valves, and a driveshaft. Just change the oil, for which the frame is the reservoir. You feel a bump in power when it "comes on the cam", which was fun. The 16" front tire makes it want to turn in...

Re: 12k Service Cost
Thanks for the repair shop info.
I'm in the Pleasantville area.
I'm a bit older, 60s, so when I walk in a dealer I sometimes get a similar reaction. They don't think I'm there to buy.

Re: 12k Service Cost
Hawkman- Which dealer did the service for you? Recent new owner of an '04 Rockster. I'm in Westchester Co., not far away, and just curious. Looking for a good service facility, dealer or private. The factory BMW dealer in White Plains closed. Aside from the price, were you happy with their service? ...

Re: 2003 R1150R Known Issues
Anybody know if the instrument zip-ties are a problem also on the Rockster with the different headlight/instruments, or only on the regular R1150R models?

Re: Headlight bulbs, a topic with many opinions.
The Sylvania Silverstars look to be a good alternative, high light output for their stock wattage. The only drawback I see, aside from price, is their rated hours. While it's about 150 hours for the low beam, it's only about 50 hours for the high beam. If you ride with the high beam on during the da...

Which Bags Fit?
Hi, New to the forum, '04 Rockster just added to the family. Can anyone tell me which original BMW side bags will fit with no mods? I know there are different names, models, and sizes of BMW bags, but I'm not familiar with them. Do they fit on the plastic side bars with hand holds or is a separate f...

Re: 2004 r1150r oil change question
The filter wrench can be found at most auto parts store, it's a standard Lisle part, #54760, for 76mm 14 flute filters. As to filters, Bob's BMW says as far as they're concerned, the Bosch 72161 is a direct replacement for the OEM part. Bob's sells the Bosch filter in fact, but a better place to buy...
