BMWMOGA Camping Ride to NC

Post by Boxer »

This is a great campsite! You have to book it almost a year in advance but it's really nice. Showers with hot water. Nice bathrooms and the site is an open field with trees and a huge firepit surrounded ny tables. See the pics. This would be a nice location for a Camping Bash. Hint, hint. Nudge, nudge.

See the whole story here with some pics.

Location is off Juneleska Rd via Wayah Bald road about 25 miles from Robbinsville. This site was $100/nite for up to 50 people. Site "D" smaller for $50 for up to 25 people.

Think about it.

Great report Phil! Bummer about the guy leaving the lady behind. A group ride is no place for selfishness.

Find yourself a small down filled blanket. My wife calls them "throws", they're not quite as big as a regular blanket, something they put across the back of the couch to cover their legs when they get cold. I've liberated one for camping. It adds several degrees of comfort when thrown on top of my sleeping bag.

What do you think happened to your Thermarest?

I'm not sure. I haven't unpacked it yet and examined it thoroughly. I looked at it pretty good as I was packing it to leave, but out there, and in a hurry is no place to find a leak. I'll have to put it in the bathtub I guess and blow it up good and full, to check it. It has been out flat under my bed with the valve open, so a cat may have got to it. One of my cats already ruined my pillion seat by clawing four tiny holes in it. Damn cats!

It may be time for a fur cap.

Hey - I know that chicken! :P

Looks like you didn't have as much luck with your group as our last excursion to the Gap via the 'chicken'. Some people just need to ride alone.

I may have to check out the campground!

It's a National Forest campground but It's gated...with a lock. The only way to get in is to pay the fee and they give you the combination. I'll ask the guy who set it up, who the contact person is.
