What's in YOUR Tank Bag?

After seeing the inside of another board member's Tank Bag in the "Pelican Case" thread on this forum, I realized my tank bag "innards" are woefully lacking in functionality (other than the water, weapon, Lipstick, and money). So I was kind of wondering what other people carry in their tank bag?

mine and my wife's passports
Ferry tickets
a 4-pack of Sesame snaps
a change of underwear/t-shirt
camera
Map of France
bob heath, V2 Sponge and some tissues
Wallet full of Euros.

Guess where we're going tomorrow night!

AND in response to the original question...it's not strictly a tankbag but the rucksack I use everyday and it only ever contains food...

those things are always there, when I'm travelling I may add a small towel, bottled water, mp3 player, bike lock, and munchies.

The only time I really use my bag is on road trips and commuting when I don't need the system cases.

parking pass for work
basic first aid kit
tire pressure gauge
BMWMOA anonymous book
maps
flashlight
loose change
Excedrin
eyedrops
ear plugs
Windex Wipes
cell phone
Knife
hand warmers
pens/paper

On Roadtrips I throw my wallet in there too, usually with a bottle of water/gatorade and a snack.

Epinephrine (Bee sting alergy)
Spare key (stupidity)
Twenty Dollar bill ( lost my wallet once)
Water and cloth (bugs on full face shield)
Spare ear plugs (always lose them)
Waterproof gloves ( I hate to ride in wet gloves)

Since I guess it was my tank bag that inspired this thread - here is some of what's in mine:

- emergency repair items, including DUCT TAPE!, electrical tape, cable ties, assorted bolts in a pill bottle
- extra riding gloves in zip lock
- bandana and crystal-filled neck rag for soaking in hot weather
- small box with faceshield maintainance items like the Wee-Willie squirt bottle/squegee from Riderwarehouse
- Anonyomous book, business cards, writing material and bike log in zip lock
- two rags - one for messy bike stuff and one for my faceshield, seat or me
- two flashlights, including a small headlamp for road or tire repairs at night
- maps and . . . er . . . reading glasses

- sidestand footprint for soft parking situations
- tankbag rain cover
- hat to provent sunburn on my follically challenged head
- and camera if I remember it

Winter adds underhelmet balaclava, winter gloves and whatever layers I peel off as it warms up!

I have my tank bag on all the time.
Bike road atlas in top plastic cover.
Small towel.
Small camera.
Multi tool.
Notepad, pen.
Spare gloves-depending on season.
Rain cover.
I dont have the bag expander on normally, as only neede on trips, so
I run with it in the "low" position.

I don't have a tankbag, but I have a Wunderlich tailbag. I always carry a clean rag and cleaner for my faceshield in there.
It is sometimes used to carry the following:
cellphone
bottle of water
earplugs
pen
small notepad
maps
different gloves
neck warmer..etc...
AND since it expands....I could go on and on about what it has been used to carry, from video rentals to Chinese take-out.
My system cases come out for serious cargo though.

5-day forcast from the BBC (Met office) looks pretty good.

It's even cleared up here at home!

It's still warmer over there even when it is wet anyway! Had a few storms but in between was nice and toasty...my nose still has a bit of a Rudolph thing going on...

I feel deprived--I DON'T HAVE A TANKBAG (sobs quietly)

--I only have a BMW soft tailpack, and throwovers, not even system cases--am I still allowed to play?

Amazing how much you can fit in that tailpack. normally just carries a set of waterproof pants , a small bottle of water and some occie straps. And the throwovers fit the Norton just as well as the Rockster. Tho if I mean to do the trip down thru the SW in summer that I have been promising my wife, I guess I'll need more that 26 litres per side

I know, I'll get a tankbag

OK, lets start a tankbag thread, no -one north of Darwin need contribute, as a lot of the US/UK stuff is not available here, at least under the same name. Anyone in Oz care to comment on a good brand of tankbag available here?

One note to add pertaining to the tankbag list. I used to carry my cell phone in the tank bag in another Pelican box but after reading about a MC crash in which the rider and bike went off the road, out of sight, and the concious but injured rider could not get to his bike to call for help, I have started carrying mine in my jackets. The local outdoor store has industrial strength zip locks for kayakers to put their wallets in that work great for a cell phone.

Oh, and if I am wearing my mesh or perfed leathers, the rain gear should go in the tankbag. I say should. I have been known to forget. And get very wet!

All those years of using an Aerostich got me out of the habit of needing raingear.
