Hi guys just a quick intro, I've been riding 30 years, Harley cruisers the last few years and now I'm moving in to a naked bike. I'm down to 2 choices the R1150R is one and would like a couple of questions answere if you would? First some R1150R's have 2 headlights and some 1, whats the deal here, I plan on buying a new 05 or 06 so I think it will have 1. Also I have seen some discussion about drive line splines, final drive issues, is this something I should concern myself with? Any other thoughts recommendations on buying a R1150R?

I bought my R1150R last month unseen with no test ride and never having ridden a beemer, best thing I ever did! Beautiful bike to ride, amazing engine, great handling, comfortable AND usually the only one in the car park amongst the pocket rockets!
The single headlight is the R1150R and the twin light is a Rockster, sportier, higher seat, fatter rear tyre but basically the same machine, take your pick!

The ones with two headlights are either the "Rockster" or the 80th Anniversary Edition. Other than the paint schemes and the headlights/instrument clusters, I don't think there's much difference. I think '05 was the last year for the R1150R so I don't think you'll be able to buy an '06.

Also I have seen some discussion about drive line splines, final drive issues, is this something I should concern myself with? Any other thoughts recommendations on buying a R1150R?

I heard some of the earlier bikes had a problem with this. Supposedly a very few of them had an alignment issue between the engine and tranny. Shouldn't be a problem on an '05.

Like others said, buy one and ride the heck out of it.

Yamaha MT-01, I have a test ride scheduled for one Tuesday morning, Monday is a holiday for us Canucks. I'm also going to ride a Used R1150R after I'm done at the Yamaha dealer.

The Rockster has different handlebars and riding postion that the R1150R.
A little more sporty.

Wow. What a beast!! a 1,670cc V-twin. Sort of a Japanese Buell on steroids!! Yet one more interesting bike we can't get here in the states.

06 R1150R's are available in Canada as far as I know, one dealer said he had an 06 with some new paint scheme. There are some 05's around with incentives
