I down loaded Google Earth 2 and I can not believe how great

Post by HILLBILLIEBIKER »

that road between Tennessee and North Carolina with the 300 turns looks on it. There is a shadow on the down hill side of the rode and it looks 3D. The clear view is from about 4 miles up. I read the thread here a few weeks back and wondered about it some but now I can see for myself in more or less 3D and it is just great! I believe it is called the Dragon Tail? The only way it could be better is if you could focus in closer. What a treat. I live 200 miles from it but get serious but burn after 45 minutes with a Air Hawk cushion. I would love to mount a video camera on the RR and make the run both ways. Do any of you have experence on this road?
What could be better than going on 60 yo on a BMW R1150R going on 60 mph? OK lets not get into that

Deal's Gap or the Tail of the Dragon is one of the best motorcycle roads in the states. It located along the TN/NC border. I make the trip from the Chicago area about every other year.

Deal's Gap was the site of the first Beakster Bash two years ago. We had about 35 board members show up and had a great time.

I just rode it again Friday.

Vann, you devil you! You obviously slowed quite a bit for the camera. There aren't any sparks anywhere!

Not me! I thought I was going pretty good and was disappointed to appear so conservative on the photos!

I attended the bash that Vann is referring to. It was my first time to that area of the country. All in all, I rode the dragon 5 times during my 4 days there. I think by the 5th time, I was starting to gain some confidence. It's a VERY technical road (in my opinion). A lot of off-camber turns. Go there and enjoy yourself - you won't regret it. But. . . . be careful.

Where can you get Google Earth version 2? I only see one version on the site. Whats different from version one?

If anyone hasnt tried this program, its a must! A very neat implemetation of satellite map technology. Scary in some ways.
