Are you bigger than me?

Post by The Velvet Monkey »

I'm just wondering whether I'm the fattest guy riding a roadster on this board--I'm 6'4" and 275 lbs. My problem is that, next to riding, my second favorite thing to do is eating, making riding somewhere to eat an especially favorite activity.

I bet you skinny guys have more get-up-and-go than me on my bike. Sometimes I feel that my R's engine is making a lot of noise, but I'm not moving very fast; that I look like a monkey humping a football when I ride.

I guess I'm just suffering with a twinge of "low body image" (that'll pass as soon as I finish this beer) and I'm hoping to hear from other "plus sized" R riders out there.

Just wondering. . .

OK, you're not the biggest or fattest guy on an R1150R. I'm 6'1 and over 300. Make you feel smaller?

Oh, and by the way, my skinny and short friends can't loose me in the twisties.

Allow me to join the crowd.....I'm 5' 8" and will not divulge my weight brcause I'm shy. However let me suffice to say that my friends refer to me as "marketing size" and there are 20 or 30 of this board that have seen me in the flesh.....err....I mean dressed but in person.

Mr. Monkey, don't worry about the "low body image" I'll have you know that I lost Sandra Bullock to Jesse James not because I was a bit overweight but because I didn't have any tatoos.

If you happen to be in the area give me a call....I know of a place that serves 2 pound hamburgers, with a 1 pound side of onion rings. We can wash it down with a six pack of Samuel Adams....what do you say?

Forgive me Mr. Biscuit you are also cordially invited......

This is the reason I'll never wear leather pants... just looks wrong =)

6'5 here, bit over 300lb (my metric conversion might be out).

Be interested to know what type of riding gear the larger set wear, I normally ride in jeans + leather jacket, can't seem to find a fit for the mesh type jackets.

The rider on the Ninja is looking at his wrist because...

1. ...it hurts from the pressure exerted on it during his daily ride to Starbucks.

2. ...he's looking at his watch to ensure he doesn't miss the dinner buffet.

3. ...he's so hungry, he's contemplating eating his own hand, because he knows that his poor Ninja might not make it to his next meal.

I'm a whopping 6' 1" and 265lbs; 50" jacket and 38" pants- It makes buying suits hell!

Being overweight can and will lead to health problems...I agree with Dean-O...good on you guys for loosing some weight...it's not easy.

It will make your bike go faster too....what a bonus!.. :D

DJ...6'4" 85 kg...anyone know what that is in lbs?

ps....I took off that fat pic...it's not that funny.

DJ,
That would be almost an exact 187 lbs. I'm afraid your'e not in the running with this crowd.

BP - the lost 50 lbs. is great. Keep up the good work. Perhaps figuring out the power/weight factor with your bike will help encourage you. Think of the money saved in engine modifications. :D

Jeeeez, why I gotta be one to follow YET ANOTHER interesting image from the Man, DJ......?!?!

I hafta wear a size 54 jacket, prefer XXXL t-shirts, and have huge arms & wide lats (under my fat). Dare I say it, but I hafta seek out pants with a 44" waist, and ain't no way I'll find 'em with a 24" inseam.

I'm 5' 2" and almost 250 pounds; a walking, talking bowling ball ferGodsakes.

I have English/Welsh/Irish/German heritage and HUGE bone structure. At 31 I took up weight-lifting and could eventually bench almost four plates (each side), easily pressed RIDICULOUS weight behind my neck, had calves the envy of my gym, and I grew 21" arms.

The clincher is that I hung out with LARGE folk and ate every bit the amount THEY did. BIIIIG MISTAKE!
Then I did the graveyard shift for seven years, virtually stopping my metabolism while treating my resulting depression with carbs, lotsa carbs.
Now I go through the day frequently on only two meals. Not good, not good at all.

It was only last week that I realized I need a support group weight loss program.
........... I want several more years of riding, and my days are limited if I continue my (fat) troll lifestyle........

Patrick,

I know you’ve heard this, or similar, comments before regarding weight loss. Perhaps the biggest incentive for weight loss is a girl friend.

Of course on the other hand, would one want a woman who didn’t care for them when they were heavy, but somehow do after the weight loss. Especially, as far as I know, the person inside is still the same.

I guess there are no easy answers, even to the simplest of questions or thoughts.

Perhaps just using the power/weight factor as encouragement is better.:D

Yeah, Baby!!! 2lbs. burger and onion rings.

Post by The Velvet Monkey »

Boxermania, count me in. With burgers and onion rings, as in life, the bigger the better, and I should buy stock in Sam Adams. I just hope they include an angioplasty with that order.

Ride to eat, eat to ride. Amen.

6'4" 255 lbs... 115.9 Kilos... I know if I'm not careful I'll see 300 by age 50... 9 years to go... In a perfect world I'd weigh 220, but the perfect world would allow two hours at the gym every day... Shi*, if I gave up this forum, I'd have that two hours.... Eureeka!!!!!!!!!!!

Six months ago I had you beat. I was 6'0" and 285 pounds. I'm now at 234 pounds. Interestingly, with the decreased weight my gas mileage has improved by several miles per gallon!
