H4 led headlight bulbs

Post by windy »

Howdy,y'all. My '04 R1150R just burned out the low beam,on the headlight bulb. Some of my riding buddies have suggested a led H4 replacement. Have any of you tried them, and do you like them? I've also been told the Silverstar is a better H4 bulb, but not a led.

All the checking I did involved too many negatives like having an unfocused glaring beam that does not illuminate the same distance as Halogen bulbs -and- they are not yet ready to be a retro-fit substitute for a Halogen designed lens system. They are very bright, but they are very expensive at 6x times the cost.

As an alternative, take a look at these. They are very bright, compact, just about bullet-proof, easy to mount and cheap. I am very pleased with mine.

Try a Phillips Xtreme Vision or an Osram Night Breaker. I installed a an Xtreme Vision 35000 miles ago, big improvement over standard H4. I haven't tried the Osrams but I hear that they are slightly better again. If you really want to max your headlight fit one of the above bulbs and an Eastern Beaver relay kit.

I totally agree with you Hank, the Philips Extreme Vision are great and last long. The LED H4 are crap. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bm4kpnVSKNc
