Hi all.
I need help with my now dead R.
She started up just fine this morning. After work, when I tried to turn, it gave me a 'click' as it was trying to turn. Then ALL dark. As if there was no battery. Turned the key to 'off' position and then turn back to on. All is up as if nothing happened. Tried to turn - one click and ALL dead again. Third time, same thing. After that NO power at all.
The battery is fairly new and its been on trickle charger all the time. Its not cranking at all as if, again, no battery. Its been riding just fine until now.
Solenoid? Fuse? Or battery? HELP please.
Thanks, Sanjay.

Re: Dead r1150r
I would suspect the battery first .
Then a possible charging system issue .
I'd remove the battery charge it overnight, or if you have the accessory outlet charge through there and see if you get the same problem then .
Kinda sounds like the ' warning ' you get with a failing battery here in the desert, it works then the next time you try to start, nothing !!!!!
If you need to purchase a battery, I'd get an AGM type if you can .
Can't tell where on planet earth you reside, but there are two places I get AGM batteries from in the US, Radio Shack is one and Staab Battery in the western suburbs of Chicago .
Both places have the same battery, part number UB12220 .

Re: Dead r1150r
prachster,
You are experiencing the exact symptoms of either loose battery terminal(s) -or- a cracked cell connector inside the battery. Since you say the battery is fairly new my bet is that the terminal(s) are loose and very likely fuzzy (a gray powdery corrosion). Even a new battery can have terminals that are not shiny, so take it apart for a thorough wire brush cleaning, then lightly grease every electrical contact surface before assembly. Those poor battery/terminal connections also prevent the battery from being recharged by the alternator, so it's twice as bad.

So,
It WAS a dead battery. First time seeing this symptoms of a dead battery though. Still was under full warrenty. So, People at the Beemer Boneyard took care of the replacement from Westco.
Sorry for the late post!
