i bought steve mullen's ax-fied(http://www.nightrider.com) from beemerboneyard. have run almost 2 tanks so far, and i'm impressed. first of all, i cruise now at 2800rpm in 6th with no bogging. no pinging, EVER.....it's gone. it pulls smooth and my mileage has remained pretty normal so far. i set it for 7 blinks with the pot, which is what steve recommended. i think steve has these for all R's and K's. i paid $220. the thing plugs inline into the oxygen sensor plug just under the tank. 1 wire i connected to negative battery, and voila. i can adjust pot for more blinks and more gas and can get it down to 13.5 to 1 afr., but it runs so good i ain't gonna screw with it. I couldn't be more pleased with the product.

Good to hear a review of this product. I have been considering it but reviews from actual R1150 users are a bit thin at the moment.

How heavily is your bike modded from standard (engine and exhaust wise)?

my bike is pure stock. i bought it a bit over a yr ago with 5k on it, now has 25k. as i said, i don't want my bike to be a rocket racer, i just want to smooth out some spots. every R owner knows the feeling of straining when revving and pinging when slamming the throttle. this thing smooths all that out. my guess is with 7 blinks on the pot, i am running about 14afr. i'm gonna leave it alone there, i'm more than satisfied so far with the product. i'll be riding 300 miles today to get a cuban sandwich down in arcadia, fl, i cant wait to ride again.

We have a lot of GS's riding around in Holland with a Recyclizer (http://www.novitech.nl/bestelleneng.html).
Costs 35 euro (+/- 45 USD), excactly the same piece of kit. Fools the O2 sensor to richen the fuel mixture. No experience myself, just thought it would be a nice comment on this thread since 220 USD seems steep.

Everyone I know riding with one of these say the KFR effect is gone. Silky smooth pickup etcetcetc.
Never tried one myself, no need for.

spent the day touring "big cattle" country in s. florida. i feel like i've been given an extra gear. i can't believe what a great effect this has on performance. no strain, no bog, NO PING and mileage isn't affected because i'm spending so much more time in 6th gear at lower rpm. it pulls great from 2500 in 6th!!!! mike from boneyard suggested i adjust pot to 8 blinks, will do later today. the pot sits right under front seat, a piece of cake to get to. 15 second job...............what a product!

I read this post with interest about both products and for $52 bought the ReCyclizer. I paid with paypal and three weeks later it arrived and installed in minutes. Remove the forward seat unclip the IAT Sensor Wire Harness. Connect the ReCyclizer and install seat. It took about two minutes. First drive down my side street and bike ran really smooth between gears. I can feel a difference at all gears and at highway speeds of 75 mph. I commute 132 miles on freeway to and from work yesterday and it was one of the best rides I had. I live in Central Florida and the weather was also a big impact as it was a perfect day also. I am impressed with the product for $52 and everything works as advertised. Thanks for the post and for turning me on to this product.

Current add-on tuning devices for R1150 and R1200 bikes fall into two categories: air temperature sensor tweaks, and lambda sensor tweaks. The ReCyclizer thing is the former, while the AF-XIED is the latter. The two types of devices produce different net effects on engine management fuel mapping, and primarily (if not exclusively) impact a single mode of A/F ratio control: air temp black boxes shift the fuel map for open-loop, and lambda sensor trickery changes the closed-loop ECU effective fuel mapping.

These are apples and oranges, but both potentially required for modification of the fruit salad of bike performance.
