Sorry, if this has been talked about many times I am sure.... one of my quick connects is pouring fuel.... I have disconnected and re connected many times now, in hopes for a better connection... no luck... Do I need to replace or is there a trick that I am over looking?... Thanks for your time.

No worries. If you have the stock plastic units, the male fitting is commonly easily broken. If your o-ring is intact and not missing or torn, look it over carefully for cracks. Make sure it clicks together properly when connecting. I upgraded to the metal units offered by Beemershop before the nearly inevitable failure of the plastic ones.

I checked over... nothing is cracked or broken .. I even put a new o-ring on... that didn't help at all .. I am guessing the quick connections were made in ... well not germany

Are only the male fittings needed ?

It is my understanding that the male part is the problem, but they are generally sold in pairs and that is what I did.

I would just replace them. It is not worth the agony of having one go on you while you are on the road. I'm not sure if the was a recall on those from BMW, but last year when I was having my state inspection, the shop manager asked if I had the QD's replaced yet. I had done them years ago with the Omega's.

Could I just put a regular brass fitting to make the connection?.... or does the fitting need to be vavled?

You can run with just a plain brass fitting. The valves are't check-valves and are only closed when the lines are disconnected. It'll just be a PITA late on if/when you have to pull the tank. I ran into a similar issue and decided that I would go ahead and replace all the rubber fuel lines. I ran with no fittings at all until I got around to ordering and installing the beamerboneyard set. Be sure to use Fuel injection clamps and not the standard hose clamps.

just out of curiosity sake.... does anyone have any experience with the Jiffy-tite quick connects...
