UPDATE Just checked the hex size on the L/H tensioner,, its 17mm. Does this mean its the old style CCT?
Ive had my 04 1150R for just over 12 months ad it has just reached 20K miles and is getting noisy. At low revs there is a knocking which vanishes above tickover. At high revs (5000+) there is a noticable knock particularly under heavy load. it also seems to produce more noise than power these days. (never hear it with ear plugs in)
The oil and filters have been changed regularly no blue smoke though.
Im using 15/40 oil at present, would 20/50 make a difference (live in the UK so never gets too hot) Also a lot of talk about CCTs on 04 the models. Were they fitted with the upgrade?
TB balance is fine. The battery is on its last legs though, could this cause a power loss?
Its the first air cooled twin Ive owned, apart from the worry that the pistons are about to come through the covers everything else about the bike is great, particularly its ability to suprise sports bikes on the twisties.
