33L factory topcase on R1100r factory rack?

I have a 1996 R1100r with the factory luggage rack and want to solve the following problem:

How to attach a 33L top case (part no. 71602316732) to a R1100r with rack (part no. 46542328617)?

I bought the case used with the locking mechanism (part no. 46542317074) already attached, but the mounting points do not line up. Any ideas? I have been scanning the parts fiche with no luck. I do accept the facts that there may be no factory solution and that a custom bracket may be required, but I am sure that I am not the first to try this configuration...

Try to visualize using a thick polyethylene cutting board. Cut it to fit your case and BMW luggage rack. Drill holes to fit the luggage rack and the case. Spray paint it black and bolt it in position.

I should have added that the cutting board becomes the universal mounting bracket. They're cheap at Wal-Mart.
