Had to replace right signal switch on my R1150R
To do this I had to remove the gas tank
Now I have it back together but there seems to be no spark going to the plugs for it won t start not even kick

Re: Won t Start
There's a list of things you could do to cause this, but start with the easy - did you plug the fuel pump back in?
Do you hear the fuel pump turn on when you turn on the key?
There's the kill switch on the right handle - I've never had the handle apart, but that could cause a non-starter.
You say no spark, but is there spark? Easy to check this.

Re: Won t Start
As AndyRR suggested
1) Was kill switch on right handle in the off position?
2) Where the fuel line quick disconects driven all the way home until the tab clicked....otherwise the fuel will not flow.
Good luck

The two fuel lines from the gas tank... How does one find out which is the "HIGH" presser and "LOW" presser lineboxermania wrote:As AndyRR suggested

Re: Won t Start
Hi Pat, Hi Tictac,
Interesting dilemma.
The fuel lines for High Pressure and Low pressure are connected with OEM quick-connects.
When you re-assemble those lines, the male and female ends are in the reverse
position, from one another. Therefore, one can only re-connect the Male to the Female
in the high, and the reverse for the low pressure lines.
It is not possible to connect the female to the female, if the configuration is
correct.
I did have a simillar situation while removing the tank, a few years back. My connects
were in the correct index. However, when the bike wanted to turn over, I had
tried repeatedly, and so often, that I drained my battery, and there wasn't enough juice
to turn over the starter with adequate force, and simultaneously throw a spark.
Did you cycle the battery to full re-charge?
Hated it when this happened to me...
Keep us posted.
Jim

That was over 2 weeks ago. Did you get it working? Feedback with accompanying photos and diagrams are always needed after one of these problems has been sorted out.
I bet it was the QD's....

Re: Won t Start
My bike was sitting for about 6 months. It did take some rain too, don't ask.
Now the bike is all together but it will not start. I took a look at the odometer and it had 165 miles from the last fill up.
This is about time when the yellow light comes on. I added 2 gallons of gas and light is still ON. This is the first clue that something is wrong in the gas tank, not to mention the rust under the cap of the gas tank.
I was playing with QD (mine are original from 2001) I replaced the O rings but was not able to start the bike.
The more you play with the plastic QD's the more chances they will break. I did break one
Here is what I found out. The male QD from the gas tank is "HIGH" and female from the gas tank is "LOW" return from the pressure regulator. It looks like the fuel pump does not put enough presser, since nothing is going back to the gas tank, while the starter is spinning. I needed new QD for my 2004, now I will need two sets of them. I just hope that the fuel filter is clogged or some hoses in the fuel tank got bad, but please, not the fuel pump. Hate to spend 500 bucks because of my stupidity.
Anyway, I don't need the bike running today, so it will wait. Packing for the Sun your Buns Rally and taking my 2004 R.
I will keep you posted about cleaning the gas tank from the inside.
