New (to me) 2008 R1200R owner

Post by Anger »

Well, I took the leap from my R1150R to a newish 2008 R1200R. I felt a little silly spending dough to replace a perfectly fine '02 which I customized with farkles but you only go 'round once.

I'm looking for a cheap-ish top case to compliment my BMW side bags and to fit to the BMW mount (suggestions welcome hint hint). Some don't like the topcase but I can't ignore the utility it provides me, no matter what it looks like :D

I'll also be lowering the pegs with the suburban machinery lowering kit (ordered today)

and I need go get rid of that dang windscreen that buffets mercilessly.

Hey Anger - welcome to the R12 side. I also migrated from an '02 1150R and it is a night and day difference, with the R12R getting all the best of both. I couldn't be happier.

I can't help much with the other inquiries other than... if you ditch the windscreens altogether it takes care of the buffeting problem :) ... that's how i take my rides.

ya I'll probably loose the windscreen. I hate them. I am curious about the small fly screen and keeping my instrument cluster clean so I'm willing to butcher the small screen,.

I sold both that came with my R1150R. It's just too hot in Texas to merit a screen IMO and I don't ride long distances.

Welcome...
I got the Sport Screen ... It does protect the instrument cluster but better yet is at 90 mph I'm just sitting on the bike. Without a Sport Screen I fight to hold on. Buffeting doesn't seem to be a problem.
