Post by hankth »

My cases are off the bike and i noticed that there was a handle rivit that was out of it's hole in the carry handle. Any one else have this happen? What is a fix for this? Thanks all, Hank

Your circlip that holds the pin (it's not really a rivet) broke and went missing. BTDT.. someplace here I have a thread on it complete with pics on where the clip goes. You may have to do a bit of a search to find it - but it's here with pics..

Thank you! I've been struggling with this issue for some time now. You just solved my problem.

If your problem is solved, would you mind sharing where you got the parts? I have the same issue and have so far not been able to find a fitting circlip. The ones I tried were way too tight or too loose, and in addition they were made of plain steel (rain, rust,...). Haven't tried the BMW dealer yet because that involves a bit of a trip.

Edit: I ordered some clips from McMaster. Tried a good number of local hardware stores but they didn't have anything that would fit. Will post my findings.

Thanks Deilenberger. The little sucker is hard to get to, but I know how to fix it now. Thanks again, Hank

I got these, and they work: http://www.mcmaster.com/#98317A211.

Without taking off one of the originals, comparing them when on the shaft, these look like an exact replacement in terms of material and diameter. They fit tightly after they snap on, and the resulting tension may explain the tendency to breakage. However, I don't think the next larger size would fit into the groove due to the thickness.

Cost was $5.70 shipped for a pack of 10.
