Starts in neutral fine. Dies going to First Gear

Pretty much exactly what the title is. I started up the bike, went about 50 yeards, turned around and parked (I had forgot something), left it running in neutral because what I forgot was only 20 feet away. I hop back on, pull the clutch in and shift to first, and it shuts off immediately.

If I put it back to neutral, it starts just fine, but every time I shift to first, it goes dead right away.

Check that your kick stand is not extended.

Check that your kick stand is not extended.

If it's not extended then the switch is messed up.

Take some masking tape. wrap the very end of the kick stand lever. Clean the end, and spray paint the tip white, let dry, then spray on fire red/orange paint. This may help you wondering why the sucker stops when you throw it into gear. Just an easy look-see downward, will snap your brain in focus
