blue R1150R southbound Interstate 5 today

Post by sweatmark »

OK, which one of you rolled by me this afternoon on I-5 near Salem, Oregon riding your blue Roadster? Tried to catch up and flash the "R1150R.NET" sign I'd scribbled out in Sharpie, but could not keep pace.

Distinguishing marks:
Driving lights mounted high near headlight,
Roundel mounted on rear mid flap.
Forgot to mention: Washington state plates.

Next time, plan to stop by the Sweatmarks home for beer, brats, and Beemer talk.

Qill be on the lookout this morning for R1150Rs on I-5. You've got great weather for ride to Weaverville next couple of days! Which roads will you feast on in NorCal? I am jealous!

Haven't planned for the Deschutes weekend, but I've got the itch for a road trip! Note that I get up to Yakima for business once in a while. Could ride up given the right weather. Last trip saw snow over the pass on 97, just 2 weeks ago.

"Qill" seems to be my BlackBerry's guess-word.

I could really use a weekend ride in northern California right now.

OK then.
We are in Woodburn right now. We will be heading south ~9am eventually to grants pass this evening.
Friday is to Weaverville via happy camp road. Never been to the area so I can't really provide much detail beyond that. We will be meeting another group in Weaverville and there should be ~ 12-14 riders. Then a couple of days in Weaverville with day ride loops. I know we are doing hwy36 which i hear is nice.
Come on down.

Mention of Highway 36 elicits a Pavlovian response: throttle wrist twists, brake fingers flex, and I move slightly forward on seat to place more weight on front wheel.

You're going to love those roads.

Torment! Just passed a black R1150R (maybe R1100R) that was headed southbound on US101 in Newport, Oregon on the coast. Two-up, custom exhaust, loaded with gear.

Think Mrs. Sweatmark would notice if I was gone for a few days down in NorCal?

dgates: Spring Fling is the opening rally for BMWOR/WSBMWR usually held at Deschutes River Rec Area 4.2 miles west of Biggs Junction (SR97/I84 intersection). It's actually "no host" and no activities, bring your own food, cook for yourself campout. All of us "fair weather riders" trying to shake out the cobwebs before going for distance...

sweatmark: come on over, Yakima had a freeze warning for the orchardists on Monday but its supposed to be near 80 Sat. I'm riding a silver gentleman's 1150 (matches what hair I've left) with black system cases (1100 mounts) and some strangely mounted $20 driving lights.

OK, today's Roadster sighting was in Sweet Home, Oregon at 2:45PM. Silver R1150R and a second bike, stopped by phone booth. Was it you?

Should be in Yakima for business on Thursday. Probably won't ride this time, but will do so later this year, as a customer is also a rider.
