Bought a used R12R today. Even have a picture.

I posted for the first time this morning asking about a used R1200R I was looking at in Little Rock. $10k exactly with about 14k miles. Probably could have done better in a private sale but it seemed like a reasonable price for this time of year.

It sure felt solid on I-30 coming home at the normal traffic speed of around 80.

Here's a picture of the new and the Triumph Scrambler which will now be replaced by the BMW. There is a small consignment used car lot near me and the owner thinks I should be able to get $5,000 for the Triumph.

I pulled off a tail pack luggage rack because I thought it destroyed the lines of the bike. Now there's a little gap in the plastic where the rack bolted on. I guess a stock bike would have a filler piece.

Looks like an extention was put on the back of the front fender? First I've seen that. That's really nice, congrats.

I just looked and the fender extension has the name Pyramid on it, FWIW.

I rode the bike around my community of Hot Springs Village this evening and got a chance to test the power and the brakes. Wow on both counts. It wheelied in 1st and 2nd just from using the throttle. If I'm reading the manual right the brakes are linked through the lever but the pedal does the rear only. So I tried some simulated panic stops with the lever alone and again wow.

I found the body colored plastic tailpiece near the tail light doesn't have the same paint finish as the tank or fenders. No clear coat - just soft paint that won't buff up no matter what I do. In fact the paint is pretty soft and dull everywhere on the bike except for the tank & fenders. Sure is fast though.

Nice bike(s), congrats on the new one!
Even though the R is lighter, more powerful, modern, etc. I don't think it can take the place of the Triumph...
I might be able to find those little plastic covers and send them to you, I'll never need them. I'll look tomorrow.
Your local dealer might have a set too, I just asked mine and they gave them to me. They come on all R's, the luggage rack is a dealer installed accessory that most bike's have on it so they should have extra's unless the buyer asked for them...
Enjoy the Roadster, you live smack dab in beautiful riding country made for the R, been through there many a time on mine.

You are right about the BMW not filling the same roll as the Triumph. I have a little buyer's remorse today - not so much from getting the R12R, but from the thought of losing the Scrambler. The Triumph is actually better at the casual low speed kind of ride. The motor is smoother and the suspension is a little more plush. Plus the sound and nimbleness are nice. I posted a thread over in the Triumph forum and a guy sent me a PM that he might want to buy it at $5,000.

That is the same color no matter what color the bike is (tank and side pieces..) and it's supposed to simulate cast aluminum - which is why it's a dull finish.

It appears the bike has a cut down BMW shield on it. I know when you were looking you mentioned the tiny shield, so I figured you were referring to the BMW Sport Shield.. but since you have the Touring Shield mount on the bike - I'm curious what shield is mounted to the mount.

Does the shield you have show any ID marking on it? Usually BMW has a Roundel cast into the shields..

It has a BMW logo embossed into the plastic. The salesman called it a touring windshield. Seems kind of small to me for touring. It's knocks off most of wind blast but it's pretty loud inside the helmet. It's also covered in with bugs right now. I just got back from my favorite road, Arkansas Rt7, which is almost at my front door. Here are a couple of pictures i took from the Corvette. Didn't have my camera today.

Congrats on your new R. I just bought mine from a guy that was selling her so he could get a Scrambler The BMW is geared a little tall for real slow stuff compared to the Triumph, but you'll get used to it in no time. I've only put 3K on mine so far and just put on some sticky 016 Bridgestones. She was sweet with OEM tires, but now, WOW!

Well done mate. I get excited just thinking about someone getting one. Like a secret club validating my own decision made 4/12 ago (now at 6,000km). As you find out about the bike and become firm friends ,I promise you wont be able to walk past it without wanting to go for a ride. The technology, stopping power etc is a real plus. I have tried but I cant lock these wheels (ABS/ASC) . As the advertisement says "THE R1200R....ITS NOT PARKED, ITS WAITING" Chortles again to self>
