Mounted a TomTom One V3 to my R1200R

Post by Skippy »

Using a SW Motech bag and homemade bracket I installed a TomTom One V3 nav system on the windshield bracket of my R1200R. The bracket that came suplied was origenaly ment for mounting to the handle bars but what ever position I tried it always was in front of my dashboard or hitting the tankbag. I ended up mmounting it like this end liket he position all though sometimes the sun is interfering with the view. Luckely the instructions and distance are in the left hand corner and with high ciontrast so they could be seen under most condition. Maybe I should try to make a kind of sun visor to eliminate this problem. The bag also houses the 12 socket(mounted to a curly extension cord) and the 12v converter for the TomTom One V3(they are both behind the foam behind the nav unit). Cable was routed to the 12v socket for minimal interference with the canbus system all though it might be nicer to connect it to the battery with a fuse when I defenitly decide I like the set up. I am afraid of powerspikes this way while starting maybe somebody can tell me if this might be a problem. All wiring sits neatly behind the leftside cover beneath the tank and saddle. This is a very cheap way to mount nav to your bike that you vcan also use for your car it only lacks the spoken instructions in your helmet compared to a TomTom Rider.
