I have been trying to get rid of high frequency vibes that became obvious after I managed to short out the lambda sensor wires when changing the cat and blew a fuse. The bike now has the vibes and is also "snatchy" when rolling on or off on the throttle which is not pleasant in corners.
I have tried all the usual - changed spark plugs, balanced the throttle bodies, done the valves etc.
Yesterday I bought a Spark Tester and this checked out the spark to all 4 plugs. However, I did note that the little light seems to give a bright spark every 4-5 seconds at idle and this happens on each of the 4 spark plugs.
Another thing, today I noticed that the outer cable to the motronic?? potentiometer?? (the black plug on left throttle body!) is frayed where it is cable-tied to the little earth wire. How can I test the inner wires and what do they do?? I note that the bike seems to run with this thing unplugged anyway!!
Any help will be much appreciated as I am at my wits end.

Which fuse did you blow? If it was #5...that's the Motronic fuse, and you should reset it's basic Throttle Position settings.
Turn the bike on, but don't start it, and open the throttle smoothly from fully closed to WOT 3x, then shut the bike off.
You were 'changing the cat' to a Y-pipe? Kept the O2 sensor?
If that's the case and you only blew a fuse...you might just need the Motronic re-set.....

Thanks JM. I think it was #5 fuse. I have kept the O2 sensor and have also replaced the original cat and can and done the re-set - all to no avail.
How come when I unplug the motronic cable the bike still runs? Any way of testing the motronic wires etc after finding the chafing?
