Weak headlight/bad ground

Post by gel9001 »

Hi,
Thought I would approach this problem under new post. My battery is strong enough to start the motor, yet headlight is very dim. Could this be a bad ground or something else. I'm going to replace battery next week anyway cause its 4 years old, but I've been thinking about my headlight problem and it seems to me that again if battery is strong enough to start motor, the headlight should not be dim because of battery condition.

thanks,

Gene

There is a second bulb in the headlight unit. It is the "parking" light. It is dim. It only comes on when you turn the key counter-clockwise to that "parking" position.

I am not positive, but I believe this "parking" headlight comes on if the regular headlight burns out. (???) Hopefully somebody else can help my poor memory.

Try the "parking" position on the key switch, and maybe you can verify which bulb is lit.

gel,

You're welcome. I'm glad I could be of help.

Coincidently, I have also accomplished my personal goal of using the word "parking", in quotation marks, 5 TIMES!!

Today was a very good day.

Just to clarify, I am certain that the parking light is always on, even when the headlight bulb is working.
