Wunderlich Touring bar question

I've been considering putting Wunderlich "touring wellness bars" on my 1150R. I need to spend my economy stimulation check on something other than gas, so I think now is the time. I prefer the more upright seating position. I've seen posts, which I can't find again, that some who have used these bars had to change at least the brake hose due to binding. I'd appreciate knowing if it's really necessary and if so, what is the part number for the longer replacement hose so I can order both at the same time. Thanks for any help and advice you give.

i put the touring bars on my 02 r and they bolted right up with no mods. its definitely a more up right position. i also bought the tall factory seat that made for more leg room. the tall seat is also alot more comfortable.

Thanks for the note. It sounds like you're happy with the bars. I already have the tall factory seat, which helps. I have bar-backs, but they just don't get me upright enough.

I had the touring bars and took them off and sold them as I am planning on selling my 2004 R1150R bike. There are several posts that you can find in the archives to help to change them. The biggest mistake I made was in not being careful enough in taking off my heated handgrips and had to replace one of them. I had to reroute my clutch line to the outside of the head light braket for it to reach. It took several hours to get this done. Do not get in a hurry and follow all the directions

Slideruyle, thanks for the information. I've tried several times trying to find the previous posts, but haven't had any luck. I remember them from when I was considering the Wunderlich bars a year or so ago.

Questions:
1. Did you like them on the bike? Did it seem to change the handling?
2. Did they significantly change your riding position to more upright? (more than bar-backs?)
3. Any trouble with cables or hoses ( installation not withstanding )?

I installed Wunderlich "touring wellness bars" on my 2002 R1150R together with bar-backs.
They are 1.5 inch UP and 1.5 inch BACK.
The clutch line, break line, accelerator cable and choke cable will need to be rerouted outside of the headlight bracket.
During the installation, the heated grips wires need to be disconnected from the junction box under the tank.
To answer your questions:
1. If you like upright riding position like LT/RT, this is the way to go.
2. The handling will change drastically and you will scrape the pegs with very little effort.
3. On the first corner you will get a feel that the bike went on the diet and lost 150 pounds.
4. You will take the corners like a pro.
5. On the long trips you will never again feel the pain in your back.
6. Get a good set and you are ready for the iron butt.

Thanks, TicTac. I remember your reply from before, but I couldn't find it. I've ordered the bars but not a longer brake hose. I'll try what you suggested about routing everything outside the light brackets. I'm anxious to see how it feels after what you've said.
