Oooops ...

Post by MrChicken »

Let me set the scene: I’ve only been riding for about three years, am pretty conservative (sort of); and I’ve owned cruisers until my recent test ride, and inevitable purchase, of an R1200R.

So, this morning on my way to work, some young wanker in a car tried to outgun me at a set of traffic lights, intending to cut me off as the lanes merged. I wasn’t really paying attention at first, but obviously this wouldn’t do, and I grabbed a fistful of throttle in first. Sheeeeeeeet!!!! Next thing I know, I’m looking up at the front wheel, thinking perhaps it shouldn’t be so far up in the air like that. This was up a slight incline, which no doubt aided lift off, but it sure came as a surprise. I backed off, landed, and then looked back at the wanker as I rapidly disappeared from view. So, after crapping my pants initially, I couldn’t get the grin off my face. What a bloody fun way to start the day. What a great bloody bike.

...yep.....i had a couple of those OH MY GOD!!! moments when the front wheel aimed for the sky.......then you just come to enjoy it....just keep your ballance and don't let off the thottle too fast.....in time you'll find a sweet spot and you'll be doing wheelies for blocks:-)

I scared the crap out of myself too the same way.

I have visions of wheelies for blocks, but I'd probably just wreck.
