Another lurker no more

Hi. I joined several months ago and only posted once, I think. I took a test ride on a R1200R, and as it has been said many times before--don't ride one unless you really want to buy one. So, my post was a complaint about not getting any deals in Connecticut. Don E. suggested that I try Max's and I did. The result is one black with pin stripes 2007 R1200R sitting in my garage waiting for warmer weather. It has a grand total of 695 miles on it. I did 90 one day last week during the warmer weather.

Because I am short, I got one inch lowered Wilbers shocks as part of the deal. So sorry, Don, I went with the enemy. But Klaus may get the last laugh, because my shocks leave a lot to be desired. They are simply too harsh. I'm pretty sure it's the compression damping, and I was too cheap to get the compression damping adjustable ones. Max has promised to change the damping in February, after his people receive training from Wilbers. We'll see. If not, there's always Klaus--I'm not proud.

Other than that, it's a great bike. Ridiculous power and brakes. And, with the stiff suspension, I have to admit the handling is fantastic. Of course, if I wanted a Ducati, I would have bought a Ducati. Other than the shocks, the bike is stock with BMW bags. I'll be making a few changes soon, starting with a rear hugger.

Congrats! Jeeze, someone listened to me.. that's dangerous.

Hopefully Max's will get the Wilbers training needed. Right now, AFAIK, Klaus is the only one in the US who has the equipment and the training. A few of the "new" Wilbers dealers have approached him about doing the service for them

He told me he'll shortly have a shock dyno - which would really be a great way to set the shocks up.

I've been happy with the Hyperpro's from Klaus once I spent some time and really tweaked them to what I like.
