NYC ride

Post by vexlak »

 Great ride in the 65-70F in the big apple!
More surprising then the weather in January was the fact that my bike was standing for two months without a charger and it started just like I rode it yesterday. What a difference since last year (see all my posts).
I am so glad that I listen to you ‘gurus’ and got the Odyssey battery. Will ride as much as I can until it starts to get really cold again!

I'll second that. It was great to get to ride today, even if it was just for the 13 mile commute from Flushing. We had almost the same exact deal almost 1 year ago. It was 72 degrees on january 6th of last year. I just checked out my ride report from that day.

I rode Monday, in northern NJ, and I discovered that:

1 - the roads are still full of junk and my tires need replacing, so I had a few scary moments

2 - my low beam went out near home. I am assuming it is the filament and I ordered a new bulb

So I did not ride Tuesday.

But it was great to be back on the bike.

I rode Monday in Northern Cal, headed for jackson and then on to Angels camp looking for some twisty roads (not from here so have no clue about the roads) found a fantastic 13 mile twisty section from Angels camp to Copperopolis, so had to turn around and ride it back again. Weather was partially overcast and around 50, however with some good clothing, boots and heated grips i was comfortable. i am determinrd to wear the spikies off the outside of my tyres.

Headed out today to go to the local Borders for 20 minutes, once i was out however i then had to ride for another 30 around some back roads, should have dressed more appropriately as i wanted to ride more. I am trying to ride every day, i work from home so have no commute excuse and even though i am familiar with riding in the rain coming from Ireland it doesn't take long to become spoiled by the sunshine here.

Riding the rr just gets better and better every time and i feel a new level of confidence i have not felt on other bikes (might be why i am having trouble keeping to the speed limit here). So good not having to look after a chain.
