Spotted this very cool R1200S/GS/R project

Post by Skippy »

Spotted this way cool project on a German site. 205kg with 22litres of fuell, ABS and telelever witch is only 7kg more then a fuelled up Megamoto witch only holds 13litres of fuell no ABS or telelever. I would have gone for a different headlight set up and a less open rear frame but this would probably ad weight and that was the one thing the builder tried to avoid. A very nice build imo.

I'd like to put an "S" instrament cluster on my bike.
I like the way that project looks.
Where do you get the money for that sort of project?

I would have used dual headlights like the Triumph hooligan bike or Pamela Anderson.

You're right they (or she ) don't ( or doesn't ) do that much for me any more ( nor do I do that much for her ) but I don't know anyone else's name. :smt020
I thought this emoticon would be totally inappropriate.

Ya reckon?

Ya reckon (aussie for WTF) ? I get the preformance outcome, but hat's a lotta coldhard to finish with a bike that looks like it was chucked together by a 5-yr-old.

Desperately needs to unify the back end visually. At least: side panels (like the Ilmberegr CF ones; a seat that carries the tank line instead of fighting it; and a sympathetic rear light cluster.

I'm with you Mark, the front / light treatment is out of whack with the whole bike.

... other wise, finish the tank and panels in matt black and call it a pricey rat-bike. Speaking, of which, I saw an R12R with the tank in matt black at the top of Macquarie Pass last Sunday. UUUGGGGGLYYYYY.

I don't like it either. One other thing I noticed is the absence of the fins on the front forks. According to the manual these are required to increase the airflow to the oil cooler. Wonder how hot it operates without those.

One thing I do like is the swing arm is black. I'm entertaining the idea of shipping my headers off this winter to have them coated in ceramic black or chromex. Am thinking if I go with the black, the black swing arm may be an interesting compliment. I will play with photoshop once the snow starts falling before I make any firm decisions.

The front end ain't from a R1200R I guess only the tank is so the front fender with the fins wouldn't probably even fit these front fork sliders. I think the black telelever arm looks fantastic and would be very good looking on "our" R1200R's as well. As for the black swingarm this would only look good along with black engine cases(imo of course). Another improvement on the project bike in this topic would be a black rear frame without the passenger pegs and a cf endcan. I agree that with some side panels and a K1200R style headlight and better formed seat this thing would probably look killer and will kick ass on the road with the R1200S engine and low weight.

I think the intake snorckle on this bike and on our bikes looks like having an extra nose on your forehead. The black telelever and paralever are good though.
