Throttle responsw
Am I the only one that thinks the throttle is too sensitive. It just seems like it's on or off with very little transition and it makes it hard to modulate.

After my K1200S the R1200R throttle feels really easy to control! The fueling issues on the KS cause alot of problems in low speed turn (slipping the clutch was the only way I found to smooth things out) plus with 163HP small adjustments in throttle position resulted in large increases in speed - instantaneously!
The RR with only 109HP and great fuelling feels like a dream by comparison. If you are having trouble on the RR then I would recomend a) seeing if a higher or lower gear helps and b) alot of practise!

smooth hands
I think the throttle response is set like it is to provide instant changes to a smooth, or precise throttle hand. This is VERY much appreciated by many riders out there. That said, it does take a little practice to smooth things out. When you do, you feel like a better, smoother rider. Go ride,
Hank.

Funny. I did that just yesterday. Doh!deilenberger wrote:It does take some time to get used to so you can ride the bike smoothly. After 8,000 miles or so - you don't even think about it. The tall first gear does reappear whenever I hit an uphill, left-run, stop sign that's blind to the right...

I find the throttle very jerky after I've been running with the cruise control
and rather too senstive around town.
And first gear gets very smelly in tight spots
... but it all disappears on the open road
(and so far that's 4,300 of the 4,500 km I've done
)
Seriously, I do wish I could adjust throttle response - I've tried using the Kaoko mechanical cruise as a throttle dampner, but that is a bit tricky about town. I guess I'll have to acquire some finesse.

A lot of that problem is because you guys are riding around upside-down

I find the throttle response quite jerky at low rpm. This gave me some exciting moments at first, especially stopping and starting in the city. I still notice it, and it irritates me, but I've learned to live with it. If anybody ever finds a fix, I'd love to hear about it.

My experience has paralleled Caronbill's. I remember being embarrassed on the test ride as I lurched away from a traffic light. But now (3000 miles later), I never notice it. The muscle/nerve/brain feedback loops have learned some finesse, I guess.
