I planned a day on the bike about two weeks ago, but the weather has been pretty crap lately, and today (a Public Holiday) started off cold and wet, so I figured it just wasn't going to happen. As it turns out, the day cleared enough to get the bike out, so I burned a small hole in the ozone layer by chewing up a tank of gas. Did close to 300 kilometres after lunch, even though the ride temperature was only 10 degrees C.
It was just a few hours to clear the head in preparation for another week of ................. work. Don't you just hate those four-letter words!
I hit the back-roads, and ended up way down south in Namadgi National Park. The sealed road becomes dirt in the Park, but it's a very nice ride even if you have to turn back. One of the good things about where I live is how close I am to some great motorcycle roads, so I stopped for a few pics along the way.
When you have roads like this, it's so hard to stop for photos!

This is the view in the other direction.

Taken from one of the higher ridge roads that overlooks another 'dead-end' but interesting road.

Nice smooth tarmac with good radius corners, and nice scenery if you are game to have a look.

A lot of it is much tighter than this, but too risky to pull up for photos. You can just see the 'Kangaroo' sign further up. The next bend got very interesting as a large Grey came across the road in front of me. He skidded. I skidded. He fell over. I hit his leg, but didn't fall over. We both needed a change of undies! Only a coincidence with the sign. We have so many roo signs that we ignore them anyway.

Heading out of one of the many small valleys. Nice to see some green after the dry of the drought.

And a lucky-last shot of the types of hills I ride through.

Anyway - That's a quick tank of gas gone on a bleak and cold afternoon. Put in 17 litres when I got back and have a clear head for the week. Pretty tough living here, isn't it!
Cheers all, Mick.
