Rhonda rides an F650 and a Tiger 955.
Friday, June 1st
Paul and I met at the Hearty Platter truck stop in Mauston, Wisconsin. 9:30 we superslabbed it to Bloomer for our first fuel stop.

Rhonda's house is on a small body of water known as Casey Lake.
Friday night we went for a lovely ride in the North Woods. After completing the ride and sampling some of her excellent twisty town roads we went for the traditional Wisconsin fish fry. Walleye good! Leinenkugels from the tap good!:drink
Paul decided to be a wimp and sleep on her couch. I, as a dress rehearsal for the rally in July, decided to "tent it" in her yard. I think I was averaging 1 tick per hour in my sleeping bag.
Saturday morning, June 2nd, we got up and hit the road for Duluth Superior. Paul planned to blow his wad at Rider Wearhouse on a Roadcrafter 1 piece and I was going to be an accessory to the crime. (Sorry Mrs. Paul!)
Rhonda led us to this quaint little lodge that had killer buttermilk pancakes!

After breakfast we got gas at Webb Lake Wisconsin. This gas station's pumps are so primitive that they have to use a calculator to figure the price because the numbers can't be set more than $2.00/gallon!
This is Manitou falls. These are the tallest waterfalls in Wisconsin. Yes it was foggy. Yes we rode in the rain pretty much the rest of the way to Superior.

I was drooling over this V-max so bad at Aerostitch I had to take a picture of it.

The falls at Jay Cooke State Park in Minnesota.

Rhonda and Paul out on the rocks.

More Jay Cooke rocks.

We took the long way back from The Twin Ports making a swing nearly all the way to Hayward.
The roads in this area of Wisconsin are wonderfully curvy with small blind elevation changes. They are also uncompromisingly technical and hazardous with occasional sand on some the curves from the rains, and the ever present specter of deer.
Saturday Night:
Drank lots of Captain Morgan and Coke at dinner. Tried to sleep in tent again but heavy rains cause said tent to leak. I slept in Rhonda's outside gazebo instead. As with the night before, falling asleep to the sound of loons on a lake is hard to beat.
Sunday, June 3rd 252 miles total
Paul and I watched The Weather Channel and decided that with rain covering the whole state we could leave for home any time because we were going to get wet anyway.
Our hostess suggested a different way other than slab and we were game. We ended up taking HWY 70 from Spooner east, then HWY "W" from Winter to Phillips. I highly recommend this road. It's fun and very beautiful.
Paul's V-Strom as seen from the mirrors of my Roadster on HWY 13 somewhere between Phillips, WI and Medford, WI.

Biker gang clubhouse near Colby, Wi has an old Suzuki strung up for the "bike drop."

Will they be doing this V-Stroms some day?
