This will get your heart started

Post by Deans BMW »

Hope you all enjoy this.

There is now a video of Brian Parriott on the San Jose BMW R1200S posted on Google Video. The race is CCS Expert Heavyweight Superbike and it took place at Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI earlier this month. The video includes one warm up lap and the four lap race around the 4.01 mile circuit.

Fasten your seat belt and enjoy the ride.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... &plindex=0

This was taken and put together by Bret Malak, journeyman tech and senior race tech at San Jose BMW.

Taken with a little $85.00 digital camera found at Wally World, can hold 30 min of movie. Brett made a little bracket that was taped to the front of the ST bike. We made a few films ???? at Road America. One was with the camera pointing backwards showing the bikes as he passed them. Brian is prolly the fastest BMW rider out there today, I think he set 4 different lap records at Road America the other weekend.

Forgot to mention, Brian and the other rider were so far out in front at the end of the race that you could not see the other bikes. The GSXR rider was completely blown away with Brian on the aircolled, driveshaft twin, he had never had to work that hard to win before.

Here is a copy of the poster that Chris has had made up for the GP.

Dean, That is an amazing video, especially considering it is an $85 camera.

Looks like, no strike that, feels like the R has better braking and kills'm in the turns!

Jeff, we were all blown away with what the camera would do.

Just a FYI, San Jose BMW has found that stock brake pads and discs work best

The San Jose BMW R1200S is hitting in the 150 to 160 MPH range.

At Daytona during the Moto ST races we are hitting close to 170 plus or minus on the hi banking.

The R1200S is an amazing machine.

For those of you intrested, this comming weekend, both Brian Parriott and Nate Kern will be racing two of San Joses R1200S race bikes at Infineon (Sears Point)

From what I understand there should be a lot of good racing.

The Brian Parriott video, besides showing what M/C racing is really like, also shows a real pro on the track . . . . with always perfect track lines. Watch the video again with only that in mind and you'll see what I mean. That's hard to do when everyone around you is drifting all over the track in front of you like in that video. I feel the same on most every group ride when I choose or end up starting in mid-pack. If you've ridden a past group ride with me . . . . . . I'm . . . . uhhh . . . . not talking about you.

So, how much rear wheel horsepower does that bike put out? 165 or more? Cause that's about what it's going to take to push 170 mph. And those jugs aren't exactly aerodynamic either.

No ves, the max allowable RWHP in the SST class for Moto ST is 118, the San Jose BMW R1200S has had extensive aerodynamic work.

Chris Hodgson, owner of SJBMW has set many records at the Bonniville salt flats on BMW's.

The bike Brian was riding from which the Video was taken is the Moto ST bike.
