Did a quick blast out to a town called Young today. A little under 400 kms round trip via some back roads. That's about 250 miles. It was damned cold. Ride temp ranged from about 4 degrees C to a balmy 8 degrees C. Not at all pleasant, especially with faint drizzle and a cold breeze blowing. A few of our hardy souls turned around at the 50 km mark and went home! Wimps.
It was a Ulysses group - Over 40's social club for motorcyclists. We had 13 bikes start, with 8 guys and 7 girls - 5 riding and two pillions. Not bad for a pretty bleak day. All sorts of bikes from two Roadsters to a Yamaha 500 cc scooter.
Stopped at a little place called Binalong for coffee and some warmth on the way. This is the centre of the main street. Not a lot here! Tiny homes from a bygone era.

Did a quick scout around and found the remains of the old inn from horse and buggy days. Note all the 'rooms' along the verandah.

Also discovered the old rail station. Would have been an impressive building in its day, but was closed down a long time ago going by the sign. Didn't photograph the station as it's now a residence and someone was peeking out the window wondering why I had parked in their yard!

This is where we had coffee. Simple little home-run cafe. Nice log fire going at the back. Quaint old place. Friendly people who always make us welcome.

Suiting up with all the cold gear for the run to Young. Thank heavens for heated vests! Love the 'Bumblebee' Roadsters. Hadn't ridden with this guy before.

This is a dull shot of the main drag in Young, just up from the pub where we had lunch. No steak shots DJ! Forgot.

This is my mate Rob and his 'Grey Import'. Not an Aussie model, but you US types will know it. 1100 cc Honda Magna V4 (65 cu in). Only in America!

And a couple of road shots to finish off. This is the sort of back road we have. Some of it is 100 mph stuff (Or faster as we found out today - Shhhh!) and some is just a bit rough for that sort of speed. At least the weather kept the roos down in the trees.

On the tail of the Magna. More fast roads.

And that's about it. Left at 9 am, had stops for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea (It's a social club after all!) and was home by 4 pm. Nice outing with nice people, even if it was brass monkey weather!
