I need to know why this happen ( is it a fuse? ) and what to do about it and how much it will cost if done by BMW?

Fellas in my last post I had mentioned that the throttle grip lost its heating function while riding back from lake george....
I need to know why this happen ( is it a fuse? ) and what to do about it and how much it will cost if done by BMW?

There is a fuse for the system but if it blows you will lose heat in both grips. Most likely a pinched wire in the harness that feeds the grip. There are several threads posted over the years on how to service them. A search should yield good results.
You didn't mention the bike year or milage---are you out of warranty?

Well well well
The heated grip goes out because the wire actually gets severed. This has happened on several hundred motorcycles including my own. Good news is, that if its under warranty they do fix it for free and they also have to give you a new handgrip. My throttle one did break, and now it works, it heats up a lot faster than the left one, but after a min or so, they both warm to the same temp, in my humble opinion.
And just for an FYI, have them check out your quick connects for the fuel lines as well, mine blew and now I have to have the transmission cover repainted! I dont know what it is with the 03 and 04 models, these are the two major problems and the only ones that I have had on her since new!
