Pat, I'm glad you never brought up the ladies handling your package when we talked on the phone to walk you thru my on-bike-video download routine. Our nearly hour long "bikes" talk was just fine without those details. Besides, it would prolly shift to how wonderful my life partner (wife( is, without any "specific" details.

Let me say it again . . . Forget the K1200R or S models. They'll hurt you and show you what cab rides to work for a year are like. There's an R1200R out there that's waiting for you to discover it. You'll end up riding it so much you'll loose weight from all the meals you won't even miss. That plus you won't need more power or torque than what it has stock for at least 2 years.

Yeah, been looking 'round for something used; they're actually out there too. My interest is for the Boxer, got NO DESIRE for the "Special K".... R or even the S (the GT is intriguing though).

One of the reasons I'm on an FZ1 was for it's valve adjustment interval. Well..... 10 months and 17,000 miles later, I'm there. Gotta get a new chain, new sprockets, new filters (gas, air, oil), Amsoil, lubricate the swingarm bearing, new tires (again&again&again), and expect to give one of the local Yamaha shops as little as $300.00 to as much as $600.00 for a 26,000 mile service (of course I plan to do a bulk of it myself though).

Soooo.... can't sell the Fizzy without first putting money into it, and you know how weird people can get about buying a motorcycle that has actually been ridden (with miles on it). Bigger problem though is my never-ending curiosity. I find the Suzuki DL650 (w/ABS) to be quite the Swiss Army Knife of motorcycles. I'm a fan of twins, Boxers, 90*, parallels, and other V's. Dammit, and then there's that new Triumph Tiger triple..... possibly the best combination of performance, utility, fuel injection (magical), and it's suspension for unkempt California roads ("goat trails"). But I digress.....

I love bikes, ALL kinds of bikes, BIKES IS BIKES.... gotta love 'em!

Pat,
A friend of mine here in town switched from a Hayabusa to a F650GS, and is in love. It is a bike he has wanted for 6-7 years, but he always(4-5 bikes) got something different. He is also getting 60+ mpg. Just a thought for you, and speeding tickets should not be a problem.

But the R1200R has a lota mojo.

Pat, you took it in '02 during the Lake Topaz ride. That's above Mono Lake with Frank in the background. A bathroom break. It is one of my favorite pics.
Too bad those guys and gals are not riding together anymore.
I was always amazed at the great pics you could take with that little cheap ass camera.

I still got the blue Roadster. It's paid for and broken in.

As I'm getting older I can see the day when I'll need some serious wind protection--but I am not there yet.

Call me someday and we'll do Mosquito Ridge Rd again. With milkshakes at Worton's.

There's something to be said for "Paid for and broken in"!

Yeah, that little Olympus 1.3 mp is still the best camera for posting to the 'Net; good optics too.

Those guys we rode with to Topaz have not quite entirely splintered off from one another. One got married, another traded his Guzzi in for a Harley, and the others are either on new BMW's or Stroms. I rode with four of 'em to Lassen last month, and Lady Ann joined us at Alice's Restaurant to show us some back roads.

Mosquito Ridge Rd...... wow, yeah we should do that again. What is that, mega hundred twists & turns in 31 miles of road or some'n like that? Many good memories to see familiar screen names, and THANKS again for those shocks you turned me on to!
