Hello from South Africa

Post by Phillo »

Hi All - Have just joined and am expecting to get my new R1200R soon - my existing XT600R is in the process of being sold, just waiting for the buyers finance to be approved and then I will be :D . I test rode the bike some weeks ago and Im still grinning, could not beleive how silky smooth it is in comparison to the last Beemer I had R65LS.

Posting photos is a little difficult at first, but once you've done it a couple of times it's pretty easy.

First thing you'll need is a photo hosting account. I use PhotoBucket because it's free and it's easy. You just upload photos from your computer to the PhotoBucket account.

Once you've got your photo in the PhotoBucket account (or whichever one you choose), you can then copy the image into the post: Copy the URL from PhotoBucket, go to your message and click "Img" where you want to insert the photo. Then paste the URL and click "Img" again. Then you must "close tags." (What I didn't understand the first time was that you must then "close tags" to get the photo in there. Otherwise you'll end up posting a URL and not the picture that's associated with the URL.)

My favorite photo.

The link should look like this between the [img]and[/img] tags:

I think you had some gobbledygook in there that was preventing the image from loading in your post.

Post by Phillo »

Hi All - At long last Ive got it - took delivery of my brand new R1200R today, still got the Yamaha XT660R but got tired of waiting for it to be sold so decided to bite the bullet and just buy the R1200R anyway. Maybe I can convince my missus I should have two bikes LOL. Will post some pics when I can.

Hello and WELCOME!

My youngest daughter is in South Africa right now. She's studying to be a nurse, and there's a group that took an organized trip to help some of the hospitals there. She called today, and she's in a town where apparently the baboons are taking over...stealing food from stores and people....pretty much blatently and in broad daylight.

You hear anything about that?

Hi Ray R, No I have not heard of anything like that, it certainly has not made the news - any idea of the name of the town ??

Hi Ray R - there are hundreds of towns in the Cape province - can you be more specific - I need a town or city name.

I'm sorry. That's all she said. Next time she calls, I'll ask for a more specific location.

Now back to our regularly scheduled motorcycle-related thread. :D

Ok - got my baby on Wednesday and am still smiling - went on my first breakfast run with the new bike today , total mileage now 280 kms - going like a dream. Heard some rather worrying news from another Beemer owner today in that he is just about due for his 10000 km service and the agents (170 km away) advise that they can only fit him in end of July ?????????????? - I wil check myself tomorrow as by the middle of June at latest I will be ready for my first service at 1000/1200 km - good riding to all. :D
