The night before bash time and all I can do, was sit at my 'puter and weep, 'boo hoo hoo'.
The weather was not promising, my plans already set.
Oh! how badly I did not want to get wet!
So there I sat wavering, to go or not to go...but there it was on the radar, the tiniest of holes!
Perhaps I would fare well, with good luck on my side...
But, mother nature had other plans for me, the further I'd ride...
It started with a drizzle which let up rather quick, but W. Virginia was another story that could make one sick.
Ok, enough of Dr. Seuss.
Weather reports were NOT good for the weekend, but I had planned for this so much that I was pretty much going unless it was pouring when I left.
Well, it was raining when I left so I said, 'self, if it continues like this to N.Jersey or gets worse, then we'll call it quits.' Guess what? It stopped when I got to NYC. So on I went.
Only the occasional drizzle which was FINE by me. But after the welcome center in W. Virginia, I got pissed on thoroughly by mother nature. Soaked two sets of boots, a set of gloves, my CELLPHONE and some socks by the time I met up with the guys on the top o' the mountain. (see other post)
BUT, SATURDAY MADE UP FOR IT BIG TIME! The twisties and scenery was great! Awesome lunch with the guys in my troop which consisted of wncbmw, mcooperstein, biff, carlos(i forgot his board name), marty2 and son, cyclerob, and of course myself.
After lunch, three of us (carlos, cyclerob and myself) decided to take a longer trip back up Rt.16 past the gulch to 39 to 55 and man oh man, did we have fun! Cyclerob said I was too fast, which made me laugh, cause this man is fast through everything! We topped it off with the trip up 150 and made it back for dinner.
Heading back home was less eventful than getting to the bash, but it had it's challenges none the less! Some sprinkles in Maryland north of Elkins had me pull over for gas stop #1 and prep for rain which lasted only about 10 minutes after I pulled out. Then it got warm!
Before I forget...Boxer...the trip was EXACTLY 550 miles back to my house this time!
It poured so I enjoyed a taco supreme and a cheezy bean and rice burrito, oh, and an apple empanada while god pissed all over the place!
Then there was the Holland tunnel traffic getting into Manhattan which I lane split once again and stopped for gas before entering NY. I then cut through Chinatown traffic to head over the Manhattan bridge to Brooklyn and weave through the traffic on the BQE (brooklyn-queens expressway) and the LIE (long island expressway) till I made it home at 8:02PM.
I had a great time meeting everyone and riding with most of them! Thanks to Cam for setting up this shin-dig! Hey Biff and Marty2's son, weren't those guys we ate dinner with sat. nite f--in weird?
I wish I had a pic of our waitress!!! Sweet girl, but a little on the LARGE side....absolutely loved Biff!!!!! Wanted to take him home!
Now, take the poll!
