Ok.. so it is pretty strange.. but..

If it were me, I would have done it in a second. Especially the later offer at the dealer!! Even if some weirdo offers me way to much cash on the spot, I just don't see the scam, at least not how it could pertain to me. Some people just have too much money and want things "now". Other than not wanting to part with the bike, why would you turn down something like that? Who cares if it makes sense for him.. it would make sense for me!

BTW - What can you tell me about that "secret" pic in this thread?? Looks very cool!

Erik:

I wasn't worried about it being a SCAM. I just didn't want to sell my bike, and right now I don't want to take anything out of my savings or go in debt for a different bike. I have too many other things going on to do that.

So I was never worried about it being a SCAM. I did however, NOT want to be alone with this stranger at my house - that's just common sense when you are a woman. And after what my brother-in-law told me later, I made the right decision. And yes, - this guy did have way too much money.

I don't know anything about the picture. DJ might.

Looks cool. I hear the new price is $11,995 US for the new R1200S HP.

Gypsy,

I too have to admit that the whole situation sounded screwy, but one never knows. Anyway, have you seen the new K1200R Sport? I think it looks really nice & looks more practical than the K1200R. Were I looking at a K bike I think that would be it for me.

The R1200S "HP2 Sport" pictured doesn't look a million miles away from the current 'standard' model - it's just blacked out, de-stickered, race slick tyres & a belly-pan (you can't see the good stuff of course).

I thought 'the secret' was going to be one of the new hyperbikes that MCN in the UK keep banging on about - if they run the story often enough, one day it might happen & they can say they told us first ...

BMW SportBoxer spotted
30 March 2007

BMW’S forthcoming Le Mans race bike has been spotted testing at Cartagena in Spain – and alongside two racers appears to be something closer to the road-going HP2 Sport road-going superbike.

The two racers in the foreground are identical to the machine revealed here last week, but the third appears to have a different exhaust, which is much more neatly blended into the bodywork.

During the test, the bikes are claimed to have lapped just a couple of seconds off the pace of superbike-spec racers.
